PROMPT Bridging

In order to complete this workshop it was necessary for the clinician to review PROMPT Philosophy, become acquainted with PROMPT Client and Clinician Principles and demonstrate an increased proficiency with PROMPT Application principles. Clinicians also performed a functional motor speech analysis using the Motor Speech Hierarchy and began tentative intervention planning using the Treatment Phases of PROMPT.  Clinicians were also expected to create PROMPT words and phrases with varying planes of movement for consideration in therapeutic activities based on individual client needs.

After the three-day Bridging workshop, this clinician demonstrated an enhanced understanding of:

  • individual and combined PROMPTs
  • their application to therapeutic intervention tasks directed at establishing either phoneme targets (sounds), words or the correction of inaccurate targets
  • how to use the Motor Speech Hierarchy to begin developing PROMPT lexicons and deciding on the level and type of intervention needed and
  • how to create complete PROMPT intervention plans

When completed, this workshop provided the above clinician with an understanding of the entire PROMPT Philosophy, Approach, System and Technique. This new information should provide enhanced assessment, intervention planning and clinical service to a variety of speech disorders.
